Common Issues & Solutions

Note: If there is an outage or a persistent problem, please do not hesitate to reachout so I can address it in a timely manner.

🎞️ Missing Subtitles

If subtitles aren't available for the content you're watching, you can search for them directly in Plex:

Step 1: Start playing the video
Step 2: Click the settings icon (gear/cog) in the video player
Step 3: Select "Subtitles" from the menu
Step 4: Click "Search for subtitles" (or similar option)
Step 5: Choose the subtitle that matches your language and version
Tip: If multiple subtitle options appear, look for ones marked "Hearing Impaired" for more complete captions, or standard subtitles for dialogue-only.

⏱️ Subtitles Too Fast or Too Slow

If subtitles are out of sync with the audio, you can adjust their timing:

Step 1: While playing the video, open the subtitle settings (gear icon)
Step 2: Look for "Subtitle Offset" or "Subtitle Delay" option
Step 3: Adjust the timing in seconds:
  • Positive number (e.g., +2.5): Delays subtitles (use if they appear too early)
  • Negative number (e.g., -1.5): Advances subtitles (use if they appear too late)
Tip: Start with small adjustments (0.5-1 second) and fine-tune from there.

🔄 Buffering Issues

If your video keeps buffering or stuttering:

  • Check your internet connection: Make sure you have a stable connection
  • Lower video quality: Click settings → Quality → Choose a lower resolution (720p or lower)
  • Use local network: If you're at home, connect to the same network as the server for best performance
  • Close other apps: Make sure other downloads or streams aren't using your bandwidth
Note: 4K content requires faster internet speeds. Try switching to 1080p or lower if 4K is buffering.

🔐 Can't Log In

If you're having trouble accessing the server:

  • Make sure you're using the correct Plex account
  • Check that you accepted the server invitation in your email
  • Try accessing from plex.401filmseries.com directly
  • Clear your browser cache or try a different browser/device

📱 Mobile App Issues

If you're having problems with the mobile app:

  • Update the app: Make sure you have the latest version of Plex
  • Restart the app: Completely close and reopen Plex
  • Check Downloads: If using offline downloads, make sure content finished downloading
  • Re-sign in: Try signing out and back in to refresh your connection

🎧 Audio Issues

If you're experiencing audio problems:

  • Audio track selection: Some content has multiple audio tracks. Check settings → Audio to select the right one
  • Volume normalization: Enable "Loudness Leveling" in audio settings if volume varies
  • Surround sound issues: If you don't have surround sound, select a stereo audio track instead of 5.1/7.1

Regular Maintenance

Regular server maintenance will be scheduled during off peak hours, so if you are streaming late at night and experiencing issues that is the likely cause.

Tips for Best Experience

Remote Access: You can watch from anywhere! Just log into your Plex account on any device.
Downloads: Plex mobile apps allow you to download content for offline viewing (great for flights or road trips).
Multiple Devices: You can watch on multiple devices, but simultaneous streams may affect quality depending on your connection.
